Join us for the premiere screening of the powerful documentary Rainbow Nation directed by Ilse Schooneknaep in Marieke Dermul. The film exposes the painful reality of South Africa—a country where LGBTQIA+ rights may be enshrined in law, but violence, hatred and discrimination remain a part of daily life..

Through deeply moving personal testimonies, Rainbow Nation reveals the stark contrast between a progressive constitution and a brutal reality: over 500 lesbian women are raped every year solely because of their sexual orientation. Many transgender individuals face constant threats of violence. And yet, at the very heart of danger—in the Soweto township—the activist event Soweto Pride takes place each year, where the queer community stands firm: We exist. We are here. , We will not disappear.

The screening will be followedby a discussion with guests from South Africa, who will share their first-hand experiences. The conversation will be moderated by Simona Muršec.
