The event will be held in Slovene.
Accessibility for persons with physical disabilities: Yes
The event will address the impact of the media on the public image of the LGBTIQ+ community and the increase in hate attacks both online and on the streets. We will discuss the role of journalists in shaping public opinion and in either spreading or mitigating hatred. We will analyze the consequences of disinformation (fake news) in a time of increasing social polarization and talk about the ethical code of all those working in the media.
In an era of rapid information dissemination and the widespread phenomenon of fake news, the media play a crucial role in shaping opinions about the LGBTIQ+ community. This roundtable will explore issues such as journalistic responsibility, the importance of accurate and inclusive communication, and strategies for identifying and preventing misinformation. Panelists will examine examples of good and bad practices, the challenges LGBTIQ+ people face in media representation, and how media literacy can contribute to building a more inclusive society.
