The panel \u201cDemocracy defenders – LGBTIQ+ Movements\u201d opens up a space to reflect on the role of LGBTIQ+ and other social movements in building, defending, and advancing democratic societies. Drawing on historical experiences and contemporary political contexts, we will discuss how social movements have helped shape democratic standards, expand the space of freedoms, and respond to crises such as the rise of authoritarian practices, the erosion of rights, and attacks on civil society.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Special attention will be given to how we understand the role of LGBTIQ+ movements in today\u2019s broader political landscape, and how young people – especially LGBTIQ+ youth – can contribute to a more inclusive and resilient democracy through activism, community engagement, and political participation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joining us to discuss the preservation of democracy will be Simona Mur\u0161ec, Barbara Rajgelj, and Neo Nova<\/strong><\/p>\n
