SUMMARY:Do we Fight the System or do we Build our own Utopias?
DESCRIPTION:June 11th\, 19:00\n \n \n \n \n \n ZRC Atrium (Novi trg 2\, Ljubljana)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Do we Fight the System or do we Build our own Utopias?\n \n \n \n \n \n Discussion \n \n \n \n \n \n Event will be held in English. \n \n \n \n \n \n Accessibility for people with reduced mobility: Yes \n \n \n \n \n \n Guests: \n\nCoco Wheeler\, international project manager at True Colors United\, United States of America\nSuzana Tratnik\, activist\, Škuc\, Lesbian quarter\, Slovenia\n\nModerator: \n\nMateja Morić\, Ljubljana Pride Association\n\nAt the systemic level\, LGBTIQ+ people repeatedly experience discrimination and exclusion\, while our countries are bound to uphold the right to non-discrimination and equal treatment for all. Should we fight with the system\, or against the system\, by always demanding equal and non-discriminatory treatment and inclusion? To what extent does this make sense\, if at all? Is it even possible to achieve equality and inclusion within the existing system? On the other hand\, history is full of examples of oppressed social groups that have built their survival mechanisms through parallel\, even ghettoised mechanisms\, structures\, communities… When is it time to build your own parallel system\, parallel world? And how do utopias serve us in this story? Can we fight for truly radical social and systemic change without having utopian ideas about what we want to achieve? About how it would be if we did? Ideas about a different\, ideal world? And what happens if a community succeeds\, or fails\, in building a common vision of this utopian tomorrow? How is this reflected within the LGBTIQ+ community(-ies)?

With experts from Slovenia and abroad\, we will examine how these challenges impact youth and housing policies\, as well as the accessibility and adequacy of public services\, particularly for those facing homelessness. It is common for young LGBTIQ+ individuals to go back into the closet when accessing public services for the homeless or socially disadvantaged\, aiming for easier service access. Similar practices are observed among young LGBTIQ+ individuals in institutional care. We will discuss advocacy practices\, methods and tools for accessing public services and ensuring safe institutional living for LGBTIQ+ youth with our guest experts to understand the phenomenon from different perspectives. In the second part of the conference\, we will explore the importance of alliances in ensuring the safety of young LGBTIQ+ individuals experiencing housing instability and homelessness. We will discuss opportunities for collaboration between NGOs working in the LGBTIQ+ community and those addressing housing and social difficulties. The conference will also include a presentation of collaboration protocols developed within the framework of the Alliances For Safe Rainbow Housing project in partnership with ILGA Europe. \nSign-up required for organisational purposes. The link to the application form is available on the festival’s website and Ljubljana Pride’s social media.

SUMMARY:The Zone of Fabulousness: Collective Care for Activists

It serves as an approach that fosters connection\, centers on the individuals we serve\, and aligns our shared ethics with collective care\, rather than capitalist notions of self-care. Through conceptual inputs\, discussions\, and exercises\, we explore this zone as a means of combating burnout and disconnection by shifting the framework away from the individual towards systemic shortcomings and oppression. The ultimate aim is to cultivate Zones of Fabulousness and Solidarity Teams\, enabling us as activists to maintain meaningful connections and prioritize our shared values and the people working alongside us at the heart of our activism. \nSign-up required due to the limited group size. The link to the application form is available on the festival’s website and Ljubljana Pride’s social media.

SUMMARY:Feminism Is No Joke!
DESCRIPTION:June 8th\, 19:00\n \n \n \n \n \n The Mladinsko Theather (Vilharjeva 11\, Ljubljana)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Feminism Is No Joke!\n \n \n \n \n \n DIY Cabaret \n \n \n \n \n \n Event will be held in Slovene and English. \n \n \n \n \n \n Accessibility for people with reduced mobility: Yes \n \n \n \n \n \n In cooperation with Matafir Association and Danijela Zajc. \n \n \n \n \n \n The DIY Queer Feminist Cabaret explores themes related to gender and/or sexual orientation that are ignored\, covered up and repressed in everyday society. It creates a space where performers do not have to adapt performances and themes that might not be appropriate on a traditional stage\, a space where the “ugly” becomes beautiful\, the non-normative is desirable\, the “unattractive” is attractive … It is one of the few stages where mistakes are allowed or even desired\, and the only limit is creativity. The cabaret format is designed to support the performers’ content\, desires and pleasures; thus in the DIY Cabaret “Feminism Is No Joke”\, all types of artistic expressions are welcome. The event seeks to create a safe space for everyone present\, and no form of oppression (racism\, sexism\, ageism\, oppression based on sexual orientation or gender or any other form of oppression) is tolerated. The DIY Cabaret series was created as a response to the eviction of the AT Rog community in 2016. From the very beginning\, the performance has functioned as an open stage for artists in AT Rog\, the wider community and international artists visiting Slovenia. The initiator of the project\, Danijela Zajc\, invites different creators to each edition.
