Do you sit on the toilet of your favourite bar and scratch transphobic slurs off the bathroom tiles? Do you ever feel that the public spaces around you are hostile?    \nWell\, we have a great solution! Join our DecontRamination of Hate Speech workshop and you will get the chance to explore ways of reclaiming our public spaces\, parks\, pavements\, bathroom walls and so much more.\n \nThe workshop will start at 4 PM in Hana Karim Studio on Vilharjeva cesta\, where we will briefly get to know the concept of DekontRamination and the mobile application that we will use. Then\, in small groups\, we will go to different locations around the city\, where we will find graffiti in public spaces and decontaminate them. The film exposes the painful reality of South Africa—a country where LGBTQIA+ rights may be enshrined in law\, but violence\, hatred and discrimination remain a part of daily life.. \nThrough deeply moving personal testimonies\, Rainbow Nation reveals the stark contrast between a progressive constitution and a brutal reality: over 500 lesbian women are raped every year solely because of their sexual orientation. Many transgender individuals face constant threats of violence. We will discuss the role of journalists in shaping public opinion and in either spreading or mitigating hatred. We will analyze the consequences of disinformation (fake news) in a time of increasing social polarization and talk about the ethical code of all those working in the media. \nIn an era of rapid information dissemination and the widespread phenomenon of fake news\, the media play a crucial role in shaping opinions about the LGBTIQ+ community. This roundtable will explore issues such as journalistic responsibility\, the importance of accurate and inclusive communication\, and strategies for identifying and preventing misinformation. Panelists will examine examples of good and bad practices\, the challenges LGBTIQ+ people face in media representation\, and how media literacy can contribute to building a more inclusive society. \nModerator: Prof. Dr. Roman Kuhar \nProf. Dr. Roman KuharProf. Dr. Roman Kuhar holds a PhD in Sociology. He earned his doctorate with a dissertation titled “Intimate Citizenship: Private Choices\, Public Policies and Everyday Life of Gays and Lesbians.” He has worked as a journalist for Radio Slovenia and as a researcher at the Peace Institute\, where he participated in numerous European research projects related to gender equality\, discrimination\, homophobia\, citizenship\, and human rights. \nProf. Dr. Marko MilosavljevićProf. Dr. Marko Milosavljević is a professor in the Journalism Department at the Faculty of Social Sciences\, where he currently also serves as head of the Department of Communication. He earned his doctorate with a dissertation titled “Journalistic Narrative in the Context of the Political Economy of Mass Media.” \nNeo Nova\, Director of the Transfeminist Initiative TransAkcija InstituteNeo Nova is the director of the Transfeminist Initiative TransAkcija Institute\, a non-governmental organization that works to support and advocate for transgender people in Slovenia. \nMitja Blažič\, Human Rights ActivistMitja Blažič is a human rights activist\, especially focused on the rights of LGBTIQ+ individuals. Among other things\, he co-founded the DIH Association with his partner\, and together they became the first same-sex couple to register a same-sex partnership. He was a longtime radio journalist\, briefly worked in television\, and served on the editorial board of Narobe Magazine.

DESCRIPTION:The event will be held in Slovenian and English.Accessibility for people with mobility impairments: Yes \nWe invite you to join us for a screening of eight short films curated by Queer Cinema for Palestine\, which will be followed by a discussion with artist\, video artist\, performer and painter Ana Čigon on art’s position in resistance and the liberation struggle.  \nQueer Cinema for Palestine (QCP) is a collectively curated global film festival celebrating queer realities and standing in solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people for freedom\, justice and dignity. \nThe third edition of QCP\, under the slogan “No Pride in Genocide”brings together grassroots\, solidarity and arts organisations from across the globe to host screenings of a stellar\, collectively curated short film programme. \nThis year’s programme focuses on the work of queer Palestinian and allied artists across locales\, in historic Palestine and the diaspora\, on various identities\, lengths\, styles and genres (doc-hybrid\, experimental\, fiction and animation) to highlight art’s position in resistance and the liberation struggle. \nThe full programme is available at: https://queercinemaforpalestine.org/2025/04/18/film-program-queer-cinema-for-palestine-2025/ \nQueer Cinema for Palestine began as an alternative ethical space for filmmakers who pulled out or refused to show their work at the Israeli government-sponsored TLVFest LGBTQ Film Festival. Over the past six years\, hundreds of filmmakers have shown their solidarity in response to the boycott call from queer and trans Palestinians.  \nIsrael continues to attempt to instrumentalise LGBTIQ+ identities to justify its genocide against Palestinians\, including by murdering\, blackmailing and imprisoning queer and trans Palestinians. The Israeli government actively promotes a pinkwashing agenda designed to portray itself in a positive light because it offers some rights to some members of the LGBTQIA+ community\, while distracting attention from the daily reality of its military occupation\, apartheid\, settler colonialism and violent racism against Palestinians.

Artificial intelligence systems\, often perceived as neutral\, reflect discriminatory patterns present in the data they are trained on.  \nDuring the workshop\, we will examine how algorithms\, social media moderation tools\, and digital platforms affect the visibility\, safety\, and representation of LGBTIQ+ people. Through concrete examples\, we will address ethical challenges in technology development and explore ways to create a more inclusive digital environment. The workshop will also highlight the role of activism at the intersection of technology and LGBTIQ+ human rights.

The gathering will begin at 17:00 at AKC Metelkova mesto\, from where the protestors will head to Kongresni trg at 18:00. The procession is a protest expression of demands for the human rights of LGBTIQ+ people\, and an occasion for raising the visibility and celebration of the LGBTIQ+ community\, marking the 40th anniversary of the movement. The procession will be followed by a political and cultural programme at Kongresni trg at 19:00\, including speeches by guests and performances by artists such as the musical queer duo Freekind and the performance collective The Feminalz\, also responsible for the Image Snatchers tehnoburlesque.

It is a celebration of rainbow existence and demands for visibility\, equality and respect. Join us under the slogan “Looking Back\, Marching Forward”.The march will start at 17:00 at AKC Metelkova mesto in front of the Lovci building\, where the protesters will gather and equip themselves with rainbow flags and banners. At 18:00 we will march through the streets of Ljubljana\, accompanied by a parade truck. The route will take us along Masarykova ulica\, passing by the Ljubljana railway station. Once at Bavarski dvor\, the protest will continue towards the city centre and the participants will reassemble at Kongresni trg\, where a political and cultural programme will be held from 19:00 onwards. The first hour of the programme will be dedicated to addresses by guest speakers\, followed by a cultural programme with performances by the musical queer duo Freekind\, the performance group Image Snatchers\, DJ Skandal and a surprise guest appearance. The Pride Parade 2024 festival will end with an afterparty at AKC Metelkova mesto\, with a special night programme prepared by members of the DJ group Ustanova at Club Gromka.

In collaboration with LGBTIQ+ organisations\, activists and individuals who have fought for the milestones in the struggle for LGBTIQ+ rights over the past 20 years\, we are now offering a unique view of Ljubljana – through rainbow glasses – to a wider audience as well. We will begin with a brief lecture on the basics of stop-motion animation\, introducing the history and techniques of this artistic expression. Then we will move on to the practical part\, where you will learn to create your own figurines and scenes. With the help of materials and creative ideas\, we will design scenes that will serve as the basis for our animation. We will test our skills in creating our own animated scenes. We will create stories that express our ideas\, dreams\, and messages\, and each participant will have the opportunity to express their unique creativity and contribute to the collective project. Our animation will come to life in front of the audience on the day of the Pride Parade\, conjuring up a magical world of ideas and stories that we have created together.The workshop is suitable for individuals of all skills and backgrounds.
