SUMMARY:“A Parade Throughout the Balkans” exhibition opening
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to the opening of the exhibition ‘Balkan Pride’ that will focus on the history of Pride marches across the Western Balkans. \nThe exhibition will present\, in a chronological and contextual way\, how Pride marches developed in different Balkan countries and cities. \nThe exhibits invite us to learn about the impact of the movements on their local environments – especially in relation to the development of democracy\, LGBTIQ+ rights\, public visibility and resistance. \nThe exhibition aims to highlight first Pride marches in different Western Balkan cities\, and the reactions they provoked. It will provide insight into the challenges that the organizers faced – from institutional barriers and violence\, to political pushback and media responses.  \nWe will look into what the months and years after the first Prides looked like – what changed\, what didn’t\, and what was made possible through these marches. \nThe exhibition serves as a symbolic reunification of the Western Balkans through the lens of the LGBTIQ+ movement\, showcasing our similarities as well as differences within the joint fight for a more righteous democracy and equality for all. \nExhibition opening and guided tour: June 10th\, 19:00Additional guided tour: July 15th\, 17:00 \nExhibited: Ljubljana Pride\, Belgrade Pride\, Zagreb Pride\, Montenegro Pride\, Skopje Pride\, BiH Pride parade\, Maribor Pride\, Novi Sad Pride\, Karlovac Pride\, Pula Pride \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Accessibility\n				Location and entrance\n\nThe entrance is located from the front of the building\, through a flight of stairs leading up to City Hall\, building number 3 on Mestni trg.\nOpen the exact location of the entrance – link.\nThe accessible entrance is located on the left side of the stairs\, through a big wooden door. These doors need to be opened by a card\, so please\, upon arriving – let us know that you would like to use the accessible path. The contact details are at the end of the accessibility description.\nOpen the exact location of the accessible entrance – link.\n\nArchitectural accessibility\n\nThere are several stone steps leading up to the City Hall’s main entrance.\nThe accessible entrance will take you through an administrative entrance corridor\, where you will need to take an automatic wheelchair lift and an elevator to the exhibition’s space.\nThe accessible toilets are located on the first floor\, with access through an elevator and another wheelchair lift.\n\nLanguage and communication\n\nLanguage of the event: Slovene and English.\nOrganisers will be able to communicate in Slovene and English.\nThere will be no sign language interpreters present.\n\nSigning up\n\nThe event does not require a signup.\nDuring the event you might be asked to sign a participation list.\n\nSensory conditions\n\nThe event will begin with an introduction from the organisers and partners. \nAfter the introduction there will be time to individually walk through the exhibition and look at the exhibits. \nYou can enter and leave the event space at any moment\, as well as leave and come back anytime.\nBesides chosen exhibits there might be representatives of partners sharing additional stories and information. \nThere will be snacks and drinks offered. Drinks might contain alcohol. When in doubt\, it is possible to ask a person pouring the drinks if the drink is alcoholic or not.\n\nQuiet space\n\nThere is no designated quiet space during the event.\n\nContact person\n\nBefore and during the event you can contact Artur\, a volunteer with prior accessibility experience. His number is +48 669 401 401\, and you can text or call. Artur will be able to communicate with you in English\, or find a gallery employee to talk to you in Slovene.\nArtur will open the accessible entrance and be a contact person throughout the event in case of any needs concerning mobility around the event’s space.\nPlease keep in mind that the organisers are not able to provide complex personal assistance throughout the whole event. The possible assistance is only relevant to navigating the venue.
